Yukon Charlie's® Pro Series aluminum snowshoes Size: 10" X 36" (25.5 cm x 91 cm) COMPARABLE IN QUALITY TO: TUBBS® and REDFEATHER® SNOWSHOES. The quality and design of the Yukon Charlie's® Pro Series snowshoes is second to none. Aircraft quality aluminum, hypalon decking, and hinged pivoting bindings make these snowshoes second to none and are a fraction of the cost. One thing that I really like is the 9" width, rather than the 10" width - they let you move more freely without stepping on the other snowshoe, especially noticed when sidestepping on hills or uneven terrain. The flotation is excellent for the size, because of the shape - the shape gives maximum flotation because the width is where you need it, and not where you don't. These snowshoes are an incredible value and will last for years. Look closely at the riveted and laced construction of where the decking attaches to the frame and you'll see these were designed to be both lightweight and super durable. They are riveted in the main pressure areas, and laced in the rear to keep the weight down. The materials are first rate throughout, including the stainless steel crampons AND fittings, aircraft quality aluminum, and the copolymer decking. The bindings are of notable mention because the Yukon Charlie's® snowshoes all use a true-pivot binding. Unlike other top brands, these snowshoes do not rely on flexing a piece of Hypalon decking (thus absorbing your energy, and makes them prone to break.) - Aircraft quality anodized aluminum rust colored frames
- Premium quality copolymer decking with riveted and laced construction - stronger than Hypalon®
- Stainless Steel heel and toe crampons and fittings
- Full pivoting binding with rugged quick-release feature. Bindings are totally adjustable for a perfect fit while maintaining proper alignment with the snowshoe and rigid for all types of terrain.
- Spring-loaded binding that reduces fatigue by snapping back gracefully into place
- Rugged yet lightweight
- Everything you'd expect in a quality snowshoe
Note: These are not rated by weight because weight ratings are not accurate - in Alaska, you can walk on frozen snow with a large backpack in tennis shoes, but in The mountains of Arizona, you might need the largest snowshoes for walking without any pack at all. I recommend that you order the largest size you think you'll ever need and plan on carrying lots of water and supplies.
